VISUAL is one of Ireland’s leading contemporary art spaces situated in the heart of Carlow. This body of work was created for Atelier David Smith under the guidance of Oran Day and David smith. Following the national lockdowns and restrictions that dominated 2020 and 2021, VISUAL were keen to signal that they were re-opening as a physical venue/destination. VISUAL's identity is based on the lights and shadows cast by the building itself. We wanted the graphics to embody this spirit of metamorphosis and change over time. Further pulling from the building, the gridded lines on the front of the iconic VISUAL structure became the basis of the animations.
